The NAHA Marathon is Okinawa's big December marathon, and 2026 is its 40th edition.
The 40th NAHA Marathon is on Sunday 6 December 2026. The race starts at 9:00 at Onoyama Park in Naha and finishes at the Onoyama Athletic Stadium, with a time limit of 6 hours and 15 minutes, so the finish closes at 15:15. Bib pickup and the opening ceremony are at the Prefectural Budokan the day before.
The event began in 1985 to mark 25 years of sister city ties between Naha and Honolulu. The 42.195 km course, certified by the Japan Association of Athletics Federations, passes through five southern municipalities, Naha, Haebaru, Yaese, Itoman and Tomigusuku, and turns through Peace Memorial Park. Cut-off points are at 21.3 km inside the park at 12:15 and at 34.3 km at 14:10.
The field is up to 30,000 people. It is a festive citizens' race rather than a fast one, and the warm southern weather means pacing and drinking matter more than usual.
Spectators line much of the route through the southern towns. The venue is about a minute's walk from Tsubogawa or Onoyama-koen station on the Yui Rail, and parking at the park is crowded on race day, so the monorail or a bus is the better choice.
On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the NAHA Marathon.
