Along the Shonan coast towards Enoshima

The Shonan International Marathon is a December coastal marathon that starts and finishes in Oiso, Kanagawa.

The 21st Shonan International Marathon is on Sunday 6 December 2026. The marathon starts on the Seisho Bypass at Oiso-nishi IC, runs east along the coast to a turnaround near the Enoshima entrance, comes back west to a second turnaround at Seisho Ninomiya IC and finishes at the Oiso Prince Hotel.

The marathon has a time limit of 6 hours and 30 minutes with nine checkpoints along the way. Drinks are set out about every 200 m from about 5 km to about 40 km, with six food stations and twelve first aid posts.

There are shorter options too. The Fun Run 10 km goes from Oiso-nishi IC to a turnaround at the Nijigahama intersection and back to the Oiso Prince Hotel, with a time limit of 2 hours. The Fun Run 2 km is for school pupils and families, and the Run and Walk 1.4 km goes from the Nishihama footbridge in Fujisawa to the Enoshima entrance and back.

The coastal road is mostly flat with sea views most of the way, so it suits both a first marathon and a steady time. Spectators should check the road closures beforehand, as the course uses an expressway style bypass where access is limited.
