Challenge Family's flagship race by the Danube

The Championship is Challenge Family's flagship race at the x-bionic sphere in Šamorín, Slovakia, on 23 May 2027, where qualified professionals and age group athletes race for the title.

Athletes qualify for The Championship at Challenge Family races around the world and come to Šamorín to earn the ultimate bragging rights in the series. The venue is the x-bionic sphere Olympic training centre, just 20 minutes from the UNESCO city of Bratislava. The race directors are Tomas Vrzak and Erik Baláž.

The main race is the 100 distance: 2 km of swimming, 80 km on the bike and 18 km of running. The swim is in the Danube canal next to the resort, with clear water and good vantage points. The bike is fast and flat on closed roads but deceptively hard in the windy, exposed sections, so be ready to hold the aero position for the full 80 km. The run is entirely inside the resort and, while flat, crosses four surfaces underfoot, grass, sand, tarmac and cobbles, before finishing in the giant arena.

Not everyone has to qualify. The standard distance of 1.5 km, 40 km and 10 km, the sprint of 750 m, 20 km and 5 km and the Tryathlon of 300 m, 13 km and 3 km give shorter options, with junior races and kids runs too. Average air temperature is around 16 degrees.

The swim in the Danube canal runs right beside the resort and offers great spectator vantage points, and the run stays inside the resort all the way to the finish in the giant arena. The x-bionic hotel has 282 rooms on site.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry during the race. That is the athlete's own sharing and not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the organiser.
