Val d'Illiez
Seventy-three kilometres over the Valais ridges and down to Lake Geneva — the crossing that ends at the water in Le Bouveret, followed live.
The Valais crossing is a course that only makes sense as a descent to water. It climbs early — 4,387 metres of it, with the high point at 2,097 metres under the Pointe des Mossettes reached before a quarter of the distance is done — and then spends the rest of the day giving that height back, ridge by ridge, toward the Rhône plain.
The finish is what the whole line points at: Le Bouveret, where the Rhône runs into Lake Geneva at 373 metres. Every race in this valley ends there, from the ten-kilometre evening run to the 643-kilometre crossing, so a runner on the last descent is looking at the same water as everyone who has come down before them.
On Livebib the whole crossing becomes a live page: the route on the map, the runner's position as a green beacon, the climb already behind them and the aid stations ahead — with a real-time estimate of when they'll reach each one, and when they'll come down to the lake. Family and friends open one link and follow every metre.
