The organiser calls it a grand traverse through the heart of the Valais Alps: 27,530 m of ascent and 27,830 m of descent, from the upper Rhône valley to the lake. Thirty-two refuelling points lined the route, six of them support stations where runners found their drop bags, and a last one at the finish. The field was capped at 400 athletes, and no ITRA points were needed to enter, though the course carries six and is described as very alpine and technical.

The organiser estimated four to seven days on the course, with a fastest time around 75 hours and the last finishers at about 156 hours. Runners could take a train transfer from Le Bouveret to Brig, and the Legend could also be run as a duo. This page belongs to the 2026 Legend; the same route also formed the second half of that year’s Odyssey.

Over four to seven days, the people following change shifts. On Livebib the runner shares one link that anyone can open in a browser, with no account and no app, showing the position on the course line, the distance covered and a finish estimate in Le Bouveret that updates as the race goes. In the valleys and on the passes where the phone loses signal, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated instead of standing still.
