Spartan Carcassonne, live.

A Trifecta weekend by the medieval city

Spartan Carcassonne is an obstacle race weekend at Lac de la Cavayère near Carcassonne on 8 and 9 May 2027, the 9th edition of the event.

Saturday 8 May is the Beast, 21 km with 30 obstacles. Sunday 9 May is the Super, 10 km with 25 obstacles, and the Sprint, 5 km with 20 obstacles, runs on both days. A kids race of 1 to 3 km is on Saturday, and Hurricane Heat team challenges add an endurance layer for committed athletes.

The course is set against the backdrop of the medieval city of Carcassonne, one of the best preserved in Europe. Expect uneven dirt paths, water crossings and cobblestones, with the lake adding water hazards as one more obstacle.

Carcassonne is a Trifecta weekend, so people who finish the Sprint, Super and Beast over the two days complete the Trifecta in one go. The organiser says it draws thousands of racers from across Europe and is a fan favourite.

It suits first timers on the Sprint as well as experienced racers on the Beast. Teams of friends or colleagues can register together, and volunteers get free entry to a race.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry on the course. That dot is the person's own sharing, not the organiser's timing, and the official results are published by the organiser.
