From Katoomba to Jenolan Caves

The Six Foot Track Marathon follows a historic trail for 45 km through the Blue Mountains west of Sydney.

The 2027 race is on Saturday 13 March. It starts at the Explorer's Marked Tree near Katoomba and finishes at Jenolan Caves, 45 km away. It is a point to point course on a historic track through the mountains, with big climbs and descents between the two ends.

The event has been run since 1984 and now attracts over 1,100 entrants each year. Over four decades it has built a loyal following, and the organisers welcome runners whether it is their first time on the track or their 30th.

The race has a strong community side. Its profits go to the Blue Mountains Rural Fire Service, whose volunteers also crew the aid stations along the course. The entry fee is 240 dollars.

Because the finish is at Jenolan Caves, deep in the mountains, getting there and back takes planning. Spectators and support crews should check access and transport arrangements before race day rather than counting on driving to the finish at the last minute.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the Six Foot Track Marathon organisers.
