From Wrest Point to the top of kunanyi / Mount Wellington

Point to Pinnacle is Hobart's November road race from sea level to the summit of kunanyi / Mount Wellington.

The 2026 Point to Pinnacle is on Sunday 15 November 2026 in Hobart, Tasmania. Both courses start at the Wrest Point car park, follow Sandy Bay Road, turn into Byron Street and Davey Street, and continue up Huon Road. The organiser has already named Sunday 21 November 2027 as the date of the following edition.

The main race is the 21.1 km Point to Pinnacle, which turns onto Pillinger Drive and climbs to the pinnacle of kunanyi / Mount Wellington. The organiser describes it as 21.1 km long and 1,271 metres in elevation. Walkers start at 7:00 and runners at 8:00, the finish closes at 11:40, and there are intermediate cut-offs at the Southern Outlet by 8:40 and at Pillinger Drive by 9:40. If the summit cannot be reached on the day, a contingency course is used. Runners who reach the pinnacle in under 2 hours of gun time receive a sub 2 hour cap.

The 10 km Point to Pub follows the same start and climbs 426 metres to the Fern Tree Tavern, with a 10:00 cut-off and a shuttle bus back from 9:45. It suits people who want the character of the mountain road without the full climb, and there is a pram option and an under 18 entry. Entry is capped at 3,200 for the Point to Pinnacle and 1,600 for the Point to Pub.

Bibs can be collected from The Running Edge in Murray Street before race day or at Wrest Point from 6:00 on the morning. Fundraising for a charity of your choice has been part of the event since 2012 and is optional.
