Worldloppet skiing at Shirahatayama

The Sapporo International Ski Marathon is a Worldloppet cross country ski race held at Shirahatayama in Sapporo.

The 47th Sapporo International Ski Marathon is on Sunday 7 February 2027 at Shirahatayama Open Stadium and the trails around it. It is accredited by the International Ski Federation, the Ski and Snowboard Association of Japan, the Worldloppet Ski Federation and the International and Japan Citizens' Sports Federation.

The ski marathon uses free technique, with skating not allowed on the separate course just after the start. The 50 km race, two laps of the 25 km course, starts at 9:00 with a 7 hour limit and checkpoints at 12, 25 and 37 km. The 25 km starts at 9:20 with 4 hours 30 minutes, and the 10 km starts at 10:00 with 2 hours 30 minutes. Start order follows bib numbers set from estimated times, and late starts are not allowed.

For a gentler day, the 5 km event skied at walking pace in classic technique starts at 13:00 with a 2 hour limit and no timing. It is open from age 16, and children can join with parental consent.

Aid stations stand at the stadium (25 and 50 km), Yagura-dai (12 and 37 km) and Chuo Pass (19 and 44 km), serving drinks hot and cold with snacks such as jelly, bananas and cheese. Bibs are collected on race morning from 7:30, and the course is open for trial skiing on 5 and 6 February from 10:00 to 15:00. Registration runs from 1 November 2026 to noon on 6 February 2027. Spectators can follow the start, the lap and the finish in the stadium.

On Livebib you can follow a skier who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the Sapporo International Ski Marathon.
