Zurich Maratón Donostia San Sebastián, live.

A flat sea level marathon through Donostia's neighbourhoods

The 47th Zurich Maratón Donostia San Sebastián runs on Sunday 22 November 2026, with a marathon and a 10K that start beside the city hall and finish on the Boulevard.

San Sebastián first held its marathon on 15 October 1978, which makes it the second oldest marathon in Spain after Madrid. The 1978 course was one loop of four kilometres and two of 19, measured by hand. Today the race is certified by the Spanish federation through a World Athletics official and doubles as the Gipuzkoa marathon championship.

The course introduced in 2022 is fully urban, flat and at sea level. It starts on Calle Hernani next to the city hall and the Alderdi Eder gardens and runs through the centre, Antiguo, Amara and Gros, past the Paseo de la Concha, the Teatro Victoria Eugenia, the Anoeta stadium, the Buen Pastor cathedral, the Kursaal and Plaza Gipuzkoa. It ends with a straight of more than one kilometre to the finish on the Boulevard, beside the old town.

The marathon starts at 09:00 with a five hour limit and staggered starts by expected pace, and pacers run for eight target times from 2h45 to 5h. The 10K starts at 08:15, follows La Concha and Gros, and has a limit of 1 hour 10 minutes. The marathon is capped at 7,000 and open from age 18, the 10K at 4,500 and from age 16. Refreshments come at least every 5 km and at the finish.

Bibs are collected at the Expo Sports in the Kursaal, with a deadline of Saturday 21 November at 20:00, and none are handed out on race day. For supporters, La Concha and the final straight to the Boulevard are the natural places to stand.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, so the dot moves only as well as that phone and its signal. Official results and splits come from the organiser of the Zurich Maratón Donostia San Sebastián.
