A triathlon on the Formula 1 circuit

SAIL Challenge Montréal is a triathlon weekend at Parc Jean Drapeau in Montréal, from 9 to 12 September 2027, with the middle distance on 12 September.

The race is set on the island within the island of Montréal. Athletes swim in the Olympic basin built for the 1976 Games, ride on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, home of the Canadian Formula 1 Grand Prix, and finish in sight of the Biosphere.

The middle distance is 1.9 km of swimming, 90 km on the bike and 21.1 km of running. The standard distance covers 1.5 km, 40 km and 10 km and the sprint 750 m, 20 km and 5 km, with a junior race over shorter distances. The bike is a multi lap course on smooth closed roads designed for speed, which the organisers call the fastest bike course in the country, and the run follows the St Lawrence seaway with views of the city.

In September the average air temperature is around 16 degrees and the water around 18, and the Olympic basin offers calm water for the swim.

Parc Jean Drapeau is easy to reach from downtown, and the event is known for its energetic crowd support. The race director, Dominique Piché, also leads the Québec race in July.

If a participant chooses to share their live position from the phone they carry, you can follow them on Livebib from start to finish. This is the athlete's own sharing and separate from the organiser's timing, so the official results always come from the organiser.
