A winter run through central Melbourne

Run Melbourne is the city's July running festival, with three distances on Sunday and a kids event on Saturday.

The 2027 Run Melbourne is on Sunday 18 July. The half marathon starts at 6:30, the 10 km at 9:30 and the 5.5 km at 10:40. All three start on Batman Avenue and finish at Melbourne Park, beside the Yarra River and the city's sports precinct. The kids 2 km is on Saturday 17 July.

More than 28,000 people take part. The courses run through the city centre and along the river on closed roads, so the shorter distances suit families and first timers while the half gives faster participants a real target in cool winter conditions.

Charity is a large part of the event. Participants have raised over 22 million dollars in its 19 years, and many choose a charity close to their heart and run to raise money for it.

For spectators, the area around Batman Avenue and Melbourne Park is best reached by public transport, which the organisers strongly recommend as parking is very limited, and the riverside sections give clear views of the field. Dress warmly, as July mornings in Melbourne are often cold before the sun gets up.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the Run Melbourne organisers.
