From the coast at Castelló to Sant Joan de Penyagolosa

Penyagolosa Trails follows the paths that link Castelló de la Plana with Sant Joan de Penyagolosa, inland in the mountains.

The 2027 Penyagolosa Trails is on Saturday 24 April, exactly 28 years to the day after the first MiM started in 1999. It will be the 28th edition of the MiM and the 15th of the CSP. The race director says the respect for the paths to Sant Joan de Penyagolosa remains the same as on the first day.

The MiM measures 60 km with 3,300 m of climbing. It starts at sea level on the athletics track of the Universitat Jaume I in Castelló and passes Borriol, Vilafamés, Les Useres, Xodos and Vistabella before finishing at Sant Joan de Penyagolosa, 1,280 m above sea level. The time limit is 15 hours, and the field is capped at 1,500.

The CSP is the long version, 106 km with 5,600 m of climbing from the same start in Castelló, through Borriol, Vilafamés, Les Useres, Atzeneta, Benafigos, Culla, Xodos, Villahermosa del Río and Vistabella, with a limit of 25 hours 30 minutes and room for 600 people. Both races are run in semi self-sufficiency, so participants carry mandatory kit between aid stations.

Finishers of the MiM earn 3 ITRA points and a UTMB 50K qualifier, and finishers of the CSP earn 5 ITRA points and a UTMB 100K qualifier. The organiser also lists the CSP as a qualifying event for the Western States.
