From a fort on an island to a beach on the Croisette

ÖTILLÖ Cannes was held on Saturday 3 October 2026, the last race of the ÖTILLÖ season. Three swimrun courses, from a sightseeing loop along the waterfront to 40.95 km across two islands, the town and its hills, all ended on Plage Zamenhof, the public beach on the Boulevard de la Croisette.

The World Series race started in the fort on Île Sainte-Marguerite, reached by a chartered ferry from Port Pierre Canto at 08:00. Its 40,950 m are split into 12 runs and 11 swims, 7,480 m of swimming and 33,470 m of running, with 417 m of climbing and a run around the monastery island of Saint-Honorat. The organiser calls it its most varied course: big swims, urban sections, single trails and the hills of Cannes. The Sprint (12,060 m) and the Experience (5,930 m on the course description) stayed on the mainland and started from Plage Zamenhof.

Teams and solo athletes raced in every format, with separate starts for women, mixed and men. The water averages about 20 °C, between 17 and 21 °C according to the organiser. The World Series had three intermediate cut-offs, at the harbour on Île Sainte-Marguerite and twice on Rue du Dr Zamenhof, and the finish line closed at 18:15.

Swimrun is hard to watch: much of it happens in the water or on an island. An athlete who carries a phone can share a link to their own Livebib broadcast; family and friends open it in a browser, no account or app, and see the position on the course line, distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as the race goes. GPS does not work under water, so during the swims the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated instead of freezing. The athlete decides who gets the link.
