ÖTILLÖ Cannes World Series

The course measures 40,950 m: 7,480 m of swimming in 11 swims and 33,470 m of running in 12 runs, about 19 per cent in the water, with 417 m of climbing. Between the start in the fort and the finish on Plage Zamenhof it takes in a run around the monastery island of Saint-Honorat, big swims, urban sections and the hills of Cannes. The organiser’s own warning: the course will challenge you more than you think.

There were three intermediate cut-offs: 12:15 at the harbour on Île Sainte-Marguerite, 13:10 on Rue du Dr Zamenhof and 15:15 at the same street later in the course, with the finish line closing at 18:15. The ferry to the start left Port Pierre Canto at 08:00 and the briefing was on the island at 09:00. The organiser expected the first team across the line around 13:25.

For anyone on the Croisette, the first hours of this race are out on the islands, and the first cut-off is at the Sainte-Marguerite harbour. If the athlete carries a phone and shares a Livebib link, family see the position on the course line, distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as the race goes, in a browser with no account or app. Under water there is no GPS, so on each swim the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated.
