ÖTILLÖ Cannes Experience

ÖTILLÖ Cannes Experience

The organiser describes it as a waterfront sightseeing tour of Cannes, with some very nice swims and easy runs: 4 swims and 6 runs, with 17 m of climbing. The course section gives 5,930 m in total; the page header gives 6,320 m, with 1,540 m of swimming and 4,780 m of running. The water averages about 20 °C.

It is aimed at people new to swimrun and at those not ready for the longer distances, and the organiser says it can be done by anyone; many parents have introduced their children to the sport here, and under-20s pay half price. Teams and solo athletes both take part. The first finisher was expected around 11:55, and prize-giving for the Sprint and Experience was at 15:00.

On a course this short, along the waterfront, most of the family can simply stand on the beach. A Livebib link is for whoever is not there: if the athlete carries a phone, they see the position on the course line, distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as the race goes, in a browser with no account or app. GPS does not reach under water, so during swims the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated. The athlete decides who gets the link.
