Okinawa Marathon, live.

Back after a year off, in Okinawa City

The Okinawa Marathon returns in February 2027 for its 31st edition, based at the Okinawa Prefectural Comprehensive Athletic Park.

The 31st Okinawa Marathon is on Sunday 21 February 2027 and goes ahead in rain. The February 2026 race was not held, and on 21 July 2026 the organising committee decided to bring it back after a year spent reworking how the event is run, with runners, volunteers and the local community at the centre. Start and finish are at the Okinawa Prefectural Comprehensive Athletic Park in Hiyagon, Okinawa City.

The marathon starts at 9:00 on a course certified by the Japan Association of Athletics Federations and must be finished by 15:15, a limit of 6 hours 15 minutes, with 13,500 places. The general division is open to people of any nationality aged 16 or over on race day, and a competitive division is for registered athletes aged 18 or over. A workplace team contest runs within the marathon.

The 10 km road race starts at 9:40 with a limit of 1 hour 20 minutes and 3,000 places, and turns near the 5 km point of the marathon course. At 11:00 the JTA presents Okinawa Mini Marathon covers 4.2195 km on a lap inside the park, with 90 minutes and 2,000 places.

Entries are open until 13 December 2026 or until the field is full, online and at counters in Okinawa. Running with a baby stroller is not allowed. Supporters can stay at the park, where every race both starts and finishes.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the Okinawa Marathon.
