Marathon and half marathon through the streets of Murcia

The 14th TotalEnergies Maratón de Murcia Costa Cálida takes place on Sunday 7 February 2027, with a marathon and a half marathon that start together and finish beside Murcia Cathedral.

The race is organised by the Murcia Challenge club with the city council, the regional government and the Murcia athletics federation. Both distances, 42,195 m and 21,097 m, are certified by World Athletics and the Spanish federation and carry the international Label category. By mid October 2026 the 2027 edition had already passed 4,000 entries.

The course is fully urban and, according to the organiser, flatter than in earlier editions. Marathon and half marathon participants start at the same time from pens assigned by expected finish time and share the course until km 15, after which the routes divide. The finish sits within the monumental setting of Murcia Cathedral. The organiser fixes the start time in its rules and may move it with at least 48 hours of notice.

The marathon has a limit of 6 hours, with a cut off of 2 hours 45 minutes at the halfway point, and checkpoints set at a faster average pace up to km 15 so that the front and back of the race never meet. Places are capped at 6,000 for the marathon and 8,000 for the half. Everyone must be 18 on race day and hold a federation licence or buy a day licence with the entry. A finisher garment goes to those who complete the marathon.

The organiser points to a pleasant climate, an easy city to get around and its food as reasons to travel, which makes this a good early season target. Spectators can watch both races pass through the centre and gather near the cathedral for the finish.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, so the dot moves only as well as that phone and its signal. Official results come from the organiser of the Maratón de Murcia.
