Around the Lac d'Annecy by the mountains

The MaXi-Race circles the Lac d'Annecy along the ridges above it, with every race finishing in the MaXi-Village on the lakeshore in Annecy.

The 2027 MaXi-Race is held on 28, 29 and 30 May around Annecy. A group of about fifteen enthusiasts revived the old tour of the lake in late May 2011, and the race has since hosted the world trail championships in 2015. Since 2026 the tOur du Lac runs clockwise, to find shade in the hottest hours and safer ground for the late afternoon storms, so the first mountain is now the Massif du Veyrier.

The tOur du Lac en solo is the main event, 100 to 103 km with 5,300 to 5,500 m of climbing, depending on your watch. It starts from the Quai de la Tournette in Annecy on Saturday 29 May in waves from 1:25 in the morning, climbs the Massif du Veyrier in the dark, with sunrise for most runners at a panoramic viewpoint, and has a 24 hour limit. A few kilometres from the finish comes a 360 degree view before the descent to the lakeshore. It can also be run as a relay or over two days. The Demi tOur starts in Doussard on Sunday 30 May at 8:00 and covers 55 to 58 km.

Two shorter races complete the weekend. The Marathon eXpérience is a 38 to 42 km loop from the boulevard de la Corniche on Sunday morning, with 1,600 to 1,800 m of climbing. The Quart de tOur starts at the Semnoz ski station on Saturday at 9:00 and is mostly downhill, 410 m up and 1,450 m down over 19 to 20 km.

The finish line is inside the MaXi-Village at the Parking des Marquisats. On the solo tOur du Lac, assistants may only meet their runner from the Doussard life base, about 50 km and 3,500 m of climbing in. Entry to the Demi tOur requires at least 40 Betrail points, and the organiser recommends 40 points for the tOur du Lac and 33 for the Quart de tOur.
