Marcona Wind Trail 100K

Runners meet in front of the Marcona municipality at midnight and the organiser drives them to the start. The first hours are run in the dark, so a working headlamp with charged batteries is mandatory, and so is a hydration system, because there are no cups at the hydration points. There are eight hydration points on the course plus the one at the finish, and five control points: the start, three on the way and the finish.

The time barriers are at km 56 at 11:00, nine hours in, and at km 80 at 15:00, after 13 hours. The finish closes at 19:00. In between, the course follows the coast south on two levels, by the water and above the beach, through rock formations carved by the wind, and climbs into the dunes among the turbines of the wind farm, where the wind is at its strongest. The 100K is ITRA certified and gives ITRA points.
