Seventy kilometres in classic technique from Moena at the head of the Val di Fassa down through Soraga, Predazzo, Ziano and Panchià to Cavalese. The profile loses height overall, which is exactly why the last climb hurts: after sixty-five kilometres of double-poling and diagonal stride, the course turns up the Cascata into Cavalese for a wall that decides a great many finishing times.

The elite start goes at eight and the waves follow behind, on a track that runs through the middle of the villages with the crowd on both sides of it.
