A Swedish ski race in a Changchun forest park

A Worldloppet ski marathon in Jingyuetan National Forest Park, Changchun, on a 25 km lap with the Vasaloppet Museum at the arena.

Vasaloppet China 2027 is skied on Monday 4 January at Jingyuetan in Changchun, Jilin Province. The organiser lists three races, 50 km, 25 km and 1.5 km, and all three go off in a mass start at 10:00 after an opening ceremony at 09:50. The course closes at 16:05. Race days are framed by track testing and training on 2 and 3 January.

The race was first held on 15 March 2003, set up with the Vasaloppet organisers from Sweden, the Chinese Ski Association and the city of Changchun, and has been a Worldloppet member since 2014. According to Worldloppet, the course is one 25 km lap through the forest park, with moderate to very hilly terrain, and the organiser starts making snow in early November. The opening ceremony is part of Jilin Province’s snow and ice festival, and the Vasaloppet Museum sits at the ski arena.

For family and friends at home, in China or in Sweden, Livebib keeps the skier on the map. The skier shares a link to their own broadcast; anyone they send it to opens it in a browser, with no account and no app, and sees the position on the course line, the distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as the race goes. If the phone in an inside pocket loses signal in the forest, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated, never shown as measured.
