A flat half marathon along the Málaga seafront

The TotalEnergies Media Maratón Ciudad de Málaga is a 21.097 km road race along the Málaga seafront, flat and at sea level beside the Mediterranean.

The 36th edition is on Sunday 7 March 2027, with the start at 8:15. It is organised by Málaga Sport AD and Sport Life Ibérica with the City of Málaga, on a course certified by the RFEA and World Athletics. Anyone aged 18 or over on race day can enter, with or without a federation licence, and 14,000 bibs are available after 12,000 people took part in 2026.

The start is on the Avenida Manuel Alvar. The route follows the seafront promenades past the Paseo de los Curas and La Farola de Málaga, out along the Paseo de Levante and on along the Paseo Marítimo Pablo Ruiz Picasso before turning for the return, and it finishes inside the Estadio Ciudad de Málaga. The course record of 58:27 was set by Gilbert Kipkosgei in 2025.

A flat course at sea level makes this a natural target for anyone chasing a personal best over the half marathon. The field is international, with 49 percent of runners from abroad and more than 90 nationalities, and 37 percent of participants are women.

The runners' expo moves to the Palacio de Deportes José María Martín Carpena for 2027, open on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 March from 10:00 to 20:00 and reached by metro at the Palacio de los Deportes stop. On race morning the seafront is the place to watch.
