Up the Castellana and back through the Gran Vía

The Movistar Madrid Medio Maratón is the capital's spring half marathon, a 21.097 km loop that starts and finishes on Paseo de Recoletos.

The 26th edition starts at 9:15 on Sunday 4 April 2027. It is organised by the Agrupación Deportiva Marathon with Atresmedia and Sport Life Ibérica, with the support of Madrid City Council, and registration is open until a maximum of 30,000 participants is reached.

The course measures 21.097 km and is homologated by the Spanish athletics federation. It starts and finishes on Paseo de Recoletos in front of the Biblioteca Nacional. From there it heads north up the Paseo de la Castellana past Plaza de Castilla and Cuatro Caminos, then loops back through the Avenida de América tunnel, around the Puerta de Alcalá, along the Gran Vía and through the Puerta del Sol, past Neptuno and the Paseo del Prado to Cibeles and the finish.

The time limit is three hours from the start. The elevation profile is published on the race website and is worth checking before you decide on a pace.

On the same morning the 11th Carrera Madrid 5K starts at 8:45, with the start and finish on Paseo de Recoletos next to Plaza de Colón and 3,000 bibs. It is organised by the same team as a race alongside the half marathon, and the organiser notes that its times and location may still change.
