Life Time Lutsen 99er, live.

Gravel, two-track and singletrack above Lake Superior

The Life Time Lutsen 99er starts at Superior National Golf Course in Minnesota's Sawtooth Mountains and offers four distances on a mix of gravel, two-track and singletrack.

The 2027 edition is on Saturday 26 June in Lutsen on Minnesota's North Shore, with registration opening on 1 December. The ride starts at Superior National Golf Course overlooking Lake Superior and tackles a Category 3 climb, then winds through rolling hills, lakes and streams at the southern edge of the boreal forest.

The 99er is 96.7 miles with about 5,200 feet of climbing, on a mix the organiser puts at 46 percent gravel, 30 percent two-track, 10 percent pavement and 6 percent singletrack, plus ATV and snowmobile trail. Its full course closes after 10 hours 30 minutes, and it is a qualifier for the Leadville Trail 100 MTB. The 59er covers 59.9 miles with about 3,600 feet of climbing. Each route offers an optional bypass for riders who would rather skip the High Climber singletrack.

The 45er is 47.3 miles and starts and finishes with the 99er field, and the 29er is 31.4 miles with about 2,400 feet of climbing, about 19 percent of it singletrack. All four routes share the same race day, so a group of friends with different goals can ride together and meet again at the finish.

At the finish, riders find snacks and drinks waiting, and the tabs on their bike plate are good for a beer or a cider. Drop bags for the 99er are handed in on Saturday morning between 5:15am and 7:15am.

On Livebib you can follow a rider who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from Life Time.
