Lost City Marathon, live.

A marathon from the ruins of Palenque

The Lost City Marathon is a marathon and half marathon in Palenque, Chiapas, that starts in the archaeological zone and runs on gravel, asphalt and jungle trails.

The 2027 race is on Saturday 27 February, organised by Albatros Adventure Marathons. The first wave starts at 07:00 in the Palenque Archaeological Zone, and both distances finish at La Chiapaneca restaurant.

The full marathon is 42.195 kilometres and the half marathon 21.097 kilometres. The course mixes gravel roads, asphalt and jungle trails, so expect changing footing. Water is available every 3.5 to 4.5 kilometres, and the time limit is 8 hours.

The generous limit makes the race open to people who walk part of the way, as well as to those running for a time. It suits travellers who want a marathon built around a visit to a historic site, and the half marathon gives a shorter option on the same morning.

Supporters can see participants leave from the archaeological zone and meet them at the finish at La Chiapaneca. Check the organiser's race information for transfers on race morning.

On Livebib you can follow a participant live when that person chooses to share their own position from the phone they carry during the race. The dot on the map comes from the participant's phone, not from the organiser's timing, and the official results are published by the organiser.
