Estrela Grande Trail, live.

Three days of mountain trail running from Manteigas

The Estrela Grande Trail is a mountain running festival in Manteigas, in the heart of the Serra da Estrela, held since 2015.

The 11th edition runs from Friday 7 to Sunday 9 May 2027. It is organised by the Associação Estrela Outdoor Events in partnership with the Manteigas municipality, and every race starts in the centre of the town, in front of the Câmara Municipal on Rua 1º de Maio.

On Friday the Uphill Fragão do Corvo climbs 700 m in 6 km to the Fragão do Corvo viewpoint, with participants sent off every 30 seconds from 18:00. Saturday belongs to the long races: the Estrela Grande Trail of 85 km and 4,500 m of climbing starts at 6:00, and the Estrela Orion Belt of 45 km and 2,400 m follows at 8:30. On Sunday the Estrela Taurus of 35 km and 1,500 m starts at 8:00 and the Estrela Ursa Minor of 15 km and 800 m at 9:00, alongside a non competitive walk on the Rota do Javali. A three day stage format, the EGT Experience, combines 6 km, 45 km and 15 km.

The 85 km crosses the central massif of the natural park, with aid stations at Vale do Rossim, Covão d'Ametade, the Torre, the Vale Glaciar, Poço do Inferno, Vale de Amoreira and Sameiro. Time limits are 20 hours for the 85 km, 12 hours for the 45 km, 9 hours for the 35 km and 5 hours for the 15 km. Aid stations hand out no cups or plates, so bring your own.

The three longest races are for those aged 18 and over, the 15 km is open from age 10, and the finish area in the town centre is where supporters wait.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the organiser.
