The long distance that climbs the Izoard

Embrunman is a long distance triathlon in Embrun in the French Hautes Alpes, raced on 15 August 2027 with a bike course over the Col d'Izoard at 2,360 m.

The 2027 race is the 43rd Embrunman, and the organisers present it as a mythical long distance with a course like no other. The day begins at 06:00 at the Plan d'Eau, the lake at Embrun, and runs well into the evening.

The swim is two laps for 3.8 km. The bike is a single loop of 185 km with about 5,000 m of climbing, crossing the Col d'Izoard at 2,360 m. The run is three laps for 42.195 km with about 400 m of climbing. Aid stations offer fruit, gels, bars and hot tea at the swim exit, and the finish has its own reward of a sandwich and chips.

The Quart Embrunman starts at 08:00 the same day: one lap of 1.5 km in the lake, a 44 km bike with about 1,100 m of climbing and a flat 10 km run. The organisers sum it up as the atmosphere of the Myth. Entries for Embrunman open on 15 December 2026 and for the Quart on 15 February 2027.

The briefing for both races is held the day before at 17:00 at the podium by the Plan d'Eau, and the exhibitors' village opens three days before the race. The Quart prize giving is at 15:00 on race day and the Embrunman prize giving the next morning at 10:00.
