Hamburg's closed-road ride day

The ADAC Cyclassics has been the summer highlight for amateur cyclists in Hamburg since 1996, with two closed-road rides that finish in the heart of the city.

The 2027 edition is on Sunday 15 August. The organiser, A.S.O. Germany, also runs the professional ADAC Cyclassics Hamburg on the UCI WorldTour, and in 2026 the amateur rides and the pro race were held on the same Sunday. Every route ends on Mönckebergstraße in the city centre, while the start places for 2027 will be announced closer to the day.

There are two distances. The Experience is a compact loop of about 60 km on closed roads through some of Hamburg's best streets, made for a first event or a return to riding. The Challenge covers about 110 km through the city and the green countryside around it, at a real race tempo. Both are road routes, and parts of them can only be ridden on race day because they are closed to normal traffic.

Almost any bike is welcome: road bikes, mountain bikes, trekking bikes and city bikes, as long as riders meet the safety rules and the published minimum speeds. Pedelecs are allowed only on The Experience, with assistance limited to 25 km/h, and fast S-Pedelecs are not allowed at all. Registration for 2027 opens in late autumn 2026.

For spectators, Mönckebergstraße is the natural place to wait, since every ride finishes there. In 2026 the event centre with the expo and the rider pack pickup was on the Rathausmarkt.
