Challenge Vieux Boucau Sprint
It starts with 750 m in the lac marin, the salt-water lake of Vieux-Boucau, at around 20 °C. The bike is 20 km on flat Landes roads, which the organiser calls flat and fast, and the run is 5 km on a flat course around the lake. Bikes were racked between 13:00 and 14:45, and the awards were at 17:00 at the Arènes.
It is the shortest way into the event, and its afternoon start came after the Olympic distance’s 13:00 awards. The bike course stays open to traffic and drafting is forbidden. No time limit is published; cut-off times are calculated from each athlete’s own start. The organiser notes that times can be adjusted.
In a sprint everything happens within reach of the lake, and the hardest thing for spectators is knowing when the bike comes back in. When the athlete carries a phone and shares a Livebib link, family see the position on the course line, distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as the race goes, in a browser with no account or app. Anything estimated is marked as estimated, and if the signal drops the position is carried forward along the course. The athlete decides who gets the link.
