Challenge Vieux Boucau Middle Distance
The swim is one loop in the lac marin, the salt-water lake protected from open-sea conditions, at around 20 °C. The 90 km bike is described by the organiser as a rolling course on Landes roads with 554 m of climbing, aid at km 50 and km 75, and a 20 m no-drafting zone. The roads stay open to traffic. Bikes were checked in between 08:00 and 09:45.
The half marathon is flat and goes around the lake in four laps of about 5.3 km, with aid every 2.5 km. The race is listed as an official qualifier for The Championship, and entries could be individual or team. No time limit is published on the race page; cut-off times are calculated from each athlete’s own start. Awards were at 19:45 at the Arènes.
Four laps around the same lake are easy to watch and easy to lose count of. On a Livebib broadcast the athlete shares, family see the position on the course line, distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as the race goes, so they know which lap it is and when to be at the line. It opens in a browser with no account or app. Anything estimated is marked as estimated, and if the signal drops the position is carried forward along the course. The athlete decides who gets the link.
