The loudest long-distance triathlon in the world

Three hundred thousand people line a bike course in Bavaria, and most of them are standing on one hill.

DATEV Challenge Roth is the largest long-distance triathlon on earth and the fastest: the world-best times of Magnus Ditlev and Anne Haug were set here. The day starts with 3.8 kilometres out and back in the Main-Danube canal at Hilpoltstein, continues with two 90-kilometre laps through the villages and rolling farmland of Middle Franconia, and finishes with a 42.195-kilometre run along the canal and into the Triathlon-Park at Roth, where the grandstand is full from morning until the last finisher.

The Solarer Berg is the reason people who have never done a triathlon know the name Roth — a short climb walled on both sides by spectators, with a corridor barely wide enough for a bike.
