Black Forest Trailrun Masters, live.

Two days, two stages, one schoolyard in Elzach

A weekend of trail running in the Elztal, where four races and a two-stage ranking all start and finish at the same school in Elzach.

The Black Forest Trailrun Masters is held on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October 2026 from the Schulzentrum Oberes Elztal in Elzach. The Masters itself is a stage race: Stage 1 is the Elztal Trail on Saturday, Stage 2 the Biereck-Gehrenberg Trail on Sunday, and the combined result is presented at the Sunday award ceremony at 14:30. Both stages can also be run on their own.

Saturday starts at 08:00 with the Elztal Trail, 55.8 km and 2,720 metres of climbing through the Elztal and Simonswäldertal, over the lookout summits Tafelbühl and Hörnleberg, with a limit of 9 h 30. At 11:00 the Bodenhäusle Trail follows: 14 km, 610 metres, steeply up to Café Bodenhäusle at 700 m, with no time limit. On Sunday the 38.5 km Biereck-Gehrenberg Trail (860 m, 5 h 30) starts at 09:00 on the ridges toward the Kinzigtal, and the 23.1 km Biereck-Bachere Trail (510 m, 4 h) at 10:00.

Every course leaves the valley and comes back to the same finish, which is good news for anyone waiting by the coffee and cake in the finish area — and hard to follow from there, because the runners spend hours in forest out of sight. With Livebib the runner shares a link to their own broadcast; family and friends open it in a browser, without an account or an app, and see position on the course line, distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as the day goes. Where the phone loses signal in a Black Forest side valley, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated rather than freezing.
