Barcelona's 21.097 km race through the centre and along the coast

The Mitja Marató Barcelona is the city's half marathon, an urban 21.097 km course that runs through the centre and along the Mediterranean coast.

The 37th edition is on Sunday 14 February 2027, one month before the city's marathon. It is now called the Hyundai Mitja Marató Barcelona by Brooks. The Institut Barcelona Esports, part of Barcelona City Council, owns the race, and RPM Sports organises it. For 2027 there were 40,000 bibs, and they were all gone in seven days, so registration is already closed.

The course is 21.097 km and entirely urban. It starts on Passeig de Picasso, beside the Ciutadella park, and runs through the heart of the city and along its coast. The organiser publishes the map, the GPX file and a Strava route on its website. The start is at 8:30 in staggered waves based on the pace each person gave when registering.

There is a time limit of 2 hours 45 minutes from the moment the last participant crosses the start line, and the organiser expects the race to end around 13:15. Everyone must be 18 or older on race day. Thirty pacers run ten target times between 1h20 and 2h05.

The organiser says runners rate the course as one of the most complete on the international scene, a fully urban circuit through the heart and along the coast of a cosmopolitan, open, Mediterranean and active city. It also promises a devoted crowd along the way, and enough of the city's cultural heritage to make you look up so as not to miss a detail.
