The amateur ride of Eschborn-Frankfurt

The ADAC Velotour is the amateur road ride held on the same day as the Eschborn-Frankfurt pro classic, with three routes from Eschborn through Frankfurt and into the Taunus hills.

The 2027 edition is on 1 May. Eschborn-Frankfurt has shaped German cycling for more than six decades. It began in 1962 as a promotion for the new Henninger Tower in Frankfurt, and riders such as Eddy Merckx and record winner Alexander Kristoff have won it.

There are three routes. Skyline is about 40 km through Eschborn, Frankfurt and Oberursel, the easy loop for newcomers and city fans. Taunus Express is about 85 km and climbs the Großer Feldberg in the Taunus. Taunus Classic is about 97 km and adds the Mammolshainer Stich, the steep climb known from the pro race. The routes split in Oberursel and again after Schwalbach, and parts of them run on roads that are only open to cyclists on the day.

Start blocks are set by your expected average speed, and the first block leaves at 08.45, with separate women's blocks for the Taunus routes and for Skyline. Pedelecs limited to 25 km/h are allowed only on Skyline, and a helmet is compulsory. Last year the ride was sold out in February, so early entry pays off.

Start, finish and the expo are in Eschborn, and the pros now also start on the Eschenplatz in Eschborn. In the organiser's words, every 1 May the race draws the best professional teams in the world, thousands of amateur riders and hundreds of thousands of spectators to the Rhine-Main region.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the ADAC Velotour.
