Over three fells from Ylläs to Levi

Ylläs-Levi Hiihto is a point to point ski race across Finnish Lapland from Ylläs to Levi on 2 and 3 April 2027, with classic technique on Friday and skating on Saturday.

The race is organised by Visit Ylläs and Visit Levi, supported by a group of skiing professionals, and the route runs through the fell landscapes of Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. The 70 km starts on the Ylläsjärvi side of Yllästunturi and finishes in Levi, and the organiser promises scenery as a reward after long climbs. The 55 km starts in Äkäslompolo, near the school, for those who want a slightly easier challenge without some of the biggest climbs.

The 70 km crosses three fells: Kellostapuli, Kukastunturi and Pyhätunturi. The climb through Kellostapulinkuru is about 150 m, Kukastunturi is 4 km with more than 200 m of ascent, and Pyhätunturi is about 2 km long and 100 m high. The 55 km bypasses the Pyhätunturi climb on its right side. Aid stations stand at Ihmisen Rinki, Äkäslompolo, Jollos Kotamaja, Pyhäjärvi, Herkkumaa Aakenuspirtti, Kätkän laavu and Huippumoodi Immeljärvi, the last one at 67 km on the long course.

Friday 2 April is the classic day and Saturday 3 April the skating day, and the entry options include doing both days, so the race suits anything from a single long day in the fells to a full weekend. Early April in Lapland usually brings long days and good spring snow, but the fells are exposed, so a windproof layer is worth carrying.

The finish is in the yard of V'inkkari in Levi, which makes it easy for friends and family to wait in the village centre. Along the route the organiser points spectators to Ihmisen Rinki, the ice of Lake Äkäslompolo, Cafe Kota at Kotamaja, Aakenuspirtti and Kätkän laavu, and entry to the finish area is free.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry during the race. This is a separate service and not the organiser's timing. Official times and results come from Ylläs-Levi Hiihto.
