From the foot of the Bernese Oberland peaks the course climbs first to the Bunderschrinde, drops to Adelboden and the Chuenisbärgli World Cup ski run, crosses the Hahnenmoos pass and descends to Lenk. From there it runs to the Iffigenalp, with one of the region’s finest waterfalls, over the Rawil pass back into Valais, past the Tseuzier lake and dam, and over a footbridge onto the Bisse du Ro for the final stretch to Crans-Montana.

Crews may help at three places, one person per runner: Adelboden, Lenk and the Tseuzier dam. Ueschine, Sillerebüel, the Iffigenalp and the Wildstrubel hut are supporter points without assistance, and the organiser warns that Ueschine has a single fountain for water. The road over the Hahnenmoos is closed to private cars, so driving from Adelboden to Lenk takes about an hour and a half via Frutigen and Spiez. Runners and supporters were bused from Crans-Montana to Kandersteg on the morning of the race.
