Inca Half Marathon

The organiser has not published a start time. The half marathon shares the marathon’s finish in Machu Picchu village, Aguas Calientes, and its high point is 2,900 m. The organiser’s description of the circuit is the same for all three distances: part of the Inca trail from the Salkantay valley, the ruins of Llactapata on the way and a descent to Machu Picchu village, on a mixture of dirt tracks and trails.

The day before, runners trek in the Salkantay valley to get used to the ground and the height, and spend the night in the valley. Expect cool air early and up to 25 °C at the finish, with humid rainforest on the lower slopes. Multipurpose trail shoes are what the organiser recommends. A trophy ceremony for the first three men and women of each distance follows in Machu Picchu village after lunch.

This page covers the Inca Half Marathon 2027. On Livebib, family and friends see the runner’s position on the course line, distance covered and a finish estimate for Machu Picchu village that updates as the race goes. In the valleys, where the phone can lose its signal, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated.
