New Taipei City Wan Jin Shi Marathon, live.

Along Taiwan's north coast, now without the McDonald's hill

The New Taipei City Wan Jin Shi Marathon is a World Athletics label road race on the north coast of Taiwan, and the 25th edition is on 21 March 2027.

The 2027 New Taipei City Wan Jin Shi Marathon is on Sunday 21 March 2027, its 25th edition. The race centre is a car park in Wanli District on the north coast of New Taipei, and the course follows Provincial Highway 2 along the sea through Wanli and Jinshan. It is organised by the New Taipei City Government and the Chinese Taipei Athletics Association and holds World Athletics label status.

There are two races. The marathon is 42.195 km, starts at 6:00 and has a limit of 6 hours, with the finish closing at noon. It heads out through the Wanli tunnel and along Highway 2 to a turnaround near the 27.5 km marker of the highway, then comes back the same way. The 10 km Challenge Run starts at 6:20 and closes at 8:10. Its course runs along the coast past Guihou fishing port and Yeliu Geopark before turning near the Second Nuclear Power Plant.

The big change for 2027 is the removal of the so called McDonald's hill, three steep climbs on the Huangqing bridge in Jinshan between 33 and 35 km. The course now uses the gentler Huanjin Road instead, which the organiser says should help people chasing a personal best. The north coast wind is still part of the race.

Places are capped at 6,500 in the marathon and 5,500 in the Challenge Run and are drawn by lottery, with results published on 3 November 2026. Marathon entrants must be 18 or older. The course goes out and back along Highway 2, so people pass the same stretches twice, and the race centre in Wanli is where both races start and finish.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the organiser.
