Halvsimmet offers an intense half-distance open-water challenge across the historic river courses of Vansbro. Starting 1,000 metres upstream in the sheltered waters of Vanån, swimmers navigate the flowing water with the assistance of a gentle downstream current. The critical moment arrives at the river bend: turning into the wider, colder currents of Västerdalälven, competitors face a gruelling final 500 metres swimming upstream against the river current toward the finish pier at Plasket.
