Above Huaraz, under the Cordillera Blanca

Six races from Huaraz into the Cordillera Blanca, from 2 to 4 July 2027, in the twelfth edition of a race held since 2014. Five of them start at the Campo Deportivo Marian, 15 minutes by car from the centre of Huaraz, and every course finishes there.

The racing begins in the dark on Saturday 3 July. The 70K (71 km, 3,900 m of climbing, 15 hours) leaves the Plazuela de la Soledad in Huaraz at 01:00. The 50K (47.5 km, 2,250 m, 11 hours) follows from the Campo Deportivo Marian at 06:30 and the 6K (7 km, 315 m, 2 hours) at 10:00. On Sunday 4 July the Skyrace Extreme (25.9 km, 1,950 m, 7 h 15) starts at 07:00, the Skyrace (23 km, 1,450 m, 7 h 15) at 09:00 and the 12K (13 km, 629 m, 4 hours) at 10:00, all three from the Campo Deportivo Marian.

Altitude is what sets this race apart. The Campo Deportivo Marian stands at about 3,287 m on the organiser’s profiles, the Skyrace, the 50K and the 70K all climb above 4,500 m, and the Skyrace Extreme’s profile reaches about 5,000 m. The names on the long courses are Pitek, Hof, the Cojup ravine and the Llaca refuge, in a range of turquoise lakes, glaciers and summits over 6,000 m. The organiser recommends acclimatising before every distance, the 6K included, and expects mornings of 6 to 10 °C that warm to about 22 °C. UTCB is part of the international Skyrunning calendar.
