A valley of giant waterfalls, from Suyubamba

Four trail loops in the valley of giant waterfalls around Suyubamba, in Jazán, Amazonas, all starting and finishing in Suyubamba at about 1,400 m. The 4th edition was run on Saturday 20 June 2026. The organiser, Ultra Tayta, has not yet published the date of the next one.

In 2026 the 50K started at 05:00, the 29K at 06:30, the 23K at 07:00 and the 14K at 08:00. The 14K (531 m of climbing) climbs to the district of Shipasbamba, passes the Tablarumi lagoon and descends by Palca and Chaquil back to Suyubamba. The 23K (1,121 m) heads to El Porvenir, reaches the third fall of the Yumbilla waterfall and the Cristal waterfall, leaves by the Salsipuedes path and returns by way of Cuispes. The 29K (1,472 m) adds the second fall of Yumbilla and the first fall of Medio Cerro, then climbs to Chazuta before descending through Cuispes to the finish.

The 50K (2,693 m of climbing) follows the same waterfall circuit to Cuispes and then, in the organiser's words, becomes a test of total endurance. It drops to Jazán, Pedro Ruiz Gallo, makes a long climb to Shipasbamba and continues to El Atajo, with views of the Corontachaca waterfall, 450 m, and the Velo de Novia, 600 m. It returns to Shipasbamba, passes the Tablarumi lagoon and finishes like the 14K, by Palca and Chaquil to Suyubamba. Kits were handed out the day before at the Jungla del Rey in Suyubamba.

Between the waterfalls and the ravines of the valley, a phone can lose its signal for long stretches. On Livebib the runner shares a link with whoever they choose. When the signal drops, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated instead of freezing.
