Two Oceans Ultra Marathon
Fifty-six kilometres, and the first thirty of them are the easy part. The route runs south out of Newlands in the dark through Muizenberg and Fish Hoek, turns at the bottom of the peninsula and comes back up the Atlantic side, where Chapman’s Peak Drive is cut into a cliff above the sea. Then, with more than forty kilometres already run, comes Constantia Nek — a long, steady, punishing climb — before the descent through the southern suburbs to the finish at UCT.
It is routinely called the most beautiful marathon in the world, which is true and also beside the point somewhere on the Nek. This page belongs to the 2027 edition of the ultra. On Livebib, family follow the runner around the peninsula on the real course with a live position, splits at every mat and an arrival estimate for the finish that updates as the climbs arrive.
