Six races over the Cape Peninsula

A hundred miles that starts under Table Mountain and works its way down a peninsula with the Atlantic on one side.

Ultra-Trail Cape Town is the premier trail ultra on the African continent and one of the World Trail Majors. Six distances share the mountains of Table Mountain National Park: the 100-mile race with 8,000 metres of climbing, the UT100 with 4,700, the PT55, TM35, EX23 and KS16. The ground is what makes it — Platteklip Gorge, the contour paths above the city bowl, Llandudno and Hout Bay, Karbonkelberg, and on the longest course the remote southern mountains toward Kalk Bay and Simonstown.

November in Cape Town means a south-easter that can stand a runner still on an exposed traverse, and it means heat on the rock. Livebib puts the route on the map with the runner on it, distance covered, aid stations in order and an arrival estimate for the next one, so the people waiting in the city know whether the mountain has been kind.
