Twenty-one kilometres through the southern suburbs of Cape Town, out from the UCT campus and back — a course usually described as fast and actually rather hilly, with Table Mountain above it the entire way. It is one of the biggest half marathons in Africa and it fills long before the ultra does.

Running on the Saturday makes it the opening act of the Two Oceans weekend, with the ultra’s crowd already in town. This page belongs to the 2027 edition of the half. On Livebib, supporters follow the runner on the real course with a live position, splits at the timing mats and an arrival estimate for the finish at UCT — which matters in a field this size, where one runner is impossible to pick out from the barrier.
