Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon

Runners were placed in corrals 1 to 3, with the wheelchair and pro starts a few minutes before eight. The course leaves downtown for the lakes — Bde Maka Ska Parkway at miles 4–6 — then follows Minnehaha Parkway at miles 7–8 to Lake Nokomis at mile 13. After crossing the Mississippi it climbs Summit Avenue between miles 21.5 and 25, passes the Cathedral of Saint Paul and drops downhill to the finish at the Capitol.

The organiser publishes a 6 hour 30 minute course limit: the finish line stays open until 2:50 p.m., which works out to an average of 14:52 per mile, and a sweep bus follows at that pace. There are 14 fluid stations with water and Nuun, medical aid just after most of them from around mile 2.5, and pace groups from 2:55 to 6:30.

For the people following, the question is always where to stand next. On Livebib the runner’s own link shows their position on the course line, distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as the race goes, so a family at Lake Nokomis knows how long they have to get to Summit Avenue. If the phone loses signal, the position is carried forward along the course and marked estimated rather than freezing. No app or account is needed to watch, and the runner chooses who gets the link.
