Hauern, a classic ski race in Finnemarka since 1966

Thorleif Haugs Minneløp, known simply as Hauern, is a classic technique ski race in Finnemarka between Drammen and Lier on Saturday 6 February 2027.

The race has been held in Finnemarka since 1966 and honours Thorleif Haug, who won three Olympic gold medals in Chamonix. The organisers marked the 100th anniversary of those golds in 2024. Hauern is a seeding race for Birken, Vasaloppet and Holmenkollmarsjen, which makes it a useful test of form well before those races.

The course is a 25 km loop from Martinsløkka. It runs to Eiksetra and up the Dritarbakkene hills, down to Tverken and past Marivann to Ulevann, then past Langvannet down to Svarthamna and past Solvang and Garsjø back to Martinsløkka. The organiser calls it some of the finest and most snow sure terrain in Finnemarka.

Hauern itself is 50 km, two laps of the loop in classic technique, with the first start at 09:00 and an age limit of 15. HalvHauern is one lap of 25 km, with a preliminary start time of 09:40. For those who want the course without a clock, Thorleif Haug Marsjen covers 50 km without timing and FamilieHauern covers 25 km without timing. Minihauern for children is held separately on Sunday 31 January.

Because the 50 km comes back to Martinsløkka after the first lap, spectators there see the field twice. Finnemarka is forest and lake country, so the start and lap area is the natural meeting point for supporters.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry during the race. This is a separate service and not the organiser's timing. Official times and results come from Hauern.
