Seventy-five metres up the Devil’s Hill

A trail race on the ridges of a nature reserve on the edge of Borås, where the hardest climb of the day comes three kilometres after the start.

Rya Åsar Trail Run is held on Saturday 3 October 2026 in the Rya Åsar nature reserve in Borås, and 2026 is its tenth edition. Start and finish are on the plateau near the junction of Almenäsvägen, Ålgårdsvägen and Getängsvägen. There are three distances: 24 km at 11:10, 5 km at 11:30 and 12 km at 13:15, plus Kids Trail Run over 800 m and 1.8 km in the morning. The 24 and 12 km start in three groups two minutes apart: elite, fast and recreational.

The organiser’s own line is fine trails, challenging hills and beautiful views, and the numbers back it up. About three kilometres in, both the 24 and the 12 km climb Djävulsbacken, the Devil’s Hill: 300 metres long with around 75 metres of ascent. The 24 km adds up to about 685 metres of climbing on one lap past Rya Klint, Fjällsjön, Hestrastugan and Björbotoppen. The courses are flagged with red-and-yellow and orange-and-yellow tape, and trail shoes are recommended.

In the forest, where a phone can lose its signal, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated instead of freezing.
