Six trail distances from one mountain town

Patagonia Run fills San Martín de los Andes with trail and ultra runners for a week in the Patagonian autumn.

Patagonia Run was born in 2010 to start the wave of multi distance trail and ultra trail events in Argentina, and it is still run from its home town of San Martín de los Andes in the Andes. The 2027 edition takes place from 7 to 11 April 2027, in the Patagonian autumn.

There are six distances, each with its own start day. The 21K opens the week on Wednesday 7 April, the 12K and the 42K follow on Thursday 8 April, the 110K and the 100 miles start on Friday 9 April and the 70K goes on Saturday 10 April. All of them start from the Regimiento de Caballería de Exploración de Montaña 4 and the start times are still to be announced.

The numbers are serious. The 100 miles covers 160.3 km with 9,221 m of climbing and a 42 hour limit, the 110K covers 107.3 km with 5,730 m, and the 70K covers 71 km with 4,128 m. The 42K climbs 2,403 m, the 21K covers 21.2 km with 1,234 m, and the 12K is really 13 km with 693 m. The organiser notes that the courses are based on the 2026 edition and may change.

The 12K is a gentle introduction to mountain running and suits families and groups, while the 100 miles is only for experienced athletes, who must apply and meet the organiser's requirements before they can enter. Because the races are spread over five days, supporters can stay in town for the week and see several starts, and the organiser gives a loyalty discount to those who have taken part in five editions or more.
