Over Cerro Otto and down to the lake

Six races in the mountains around Bariloche, from 18 to 22 November 2026, and every one of them ends at the Centro Cívico above Lake Nahuel Huapi. The organiser lists all six as full.

The racing starts on Friday 20 November. BELLA VISTA 55K (57.5 km, 3,000 m of climbing, 14 hours) leaves Los Baqueanos at 06:00 and NAHUEL HUAPI 33K (35 km, 1,425 m, 10 hours) follows at 06:20. At 21:00 that night TRONADOR 130K starts from the Centro Cívico: 131 km and 6,580 m of climbing with a 33 h 30 limit. On Saturday 21 November FREY 85K leaves the Centro Cívico at 05:00 (88 km, 4,760 m, 22 hours), CERRO LINDO 22K starts at Cerro Lindo at 08:00 (22 km, 985 m, 7 hours) and OTTO 12K at 09:00 (12.7 km, 500 m, 3 hours).

The common thread is Cerro Otto. Every course in the organiser’s time tables either climbs it or runs its flank on the way into town, and the two longest pass it twice, near the start and again before the finish. The ground beyond takes in Cerro Pontoneros, Catedral and Bella Vista, the shores of Lake Gutiérrez, Colonia Suiza and lenga and ñire forest. TRONADOR’s published profile tops out at 1,959 m and bottoms out at 770 m, so the climbing comes as many separate ascents from the valley floor rather than one long one.

With a night start for the 130K and long forest stretches in every race, there are hours when a phone has no signal. On Livebib the runner shares a link with whoever they choose. Family and friends open it in a browser, no app or account needed, and see the position on the course line, distance covered and a finish estimate for the Centro Cívico that updates as the race goes. When the signal drops, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated instead of freezing.
